Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe is now the richest turf race in Europe

The €5 million that is now on offer as prize money in the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe means it is now the richest turf race in Europe and the second in the world only being the newly formed Everest. This year’s race was won by the star filly Enable with no other than Frankie Dettori as her jockey. Dettori now enters the record books as the winning most jockey in the history of the race. With his record victories now standing at 5 that started with a victory on Lammtarra back in 1995. He doubled his tally six years later with victory aboard Sakhee and in the process winning by an amazing 6 lengths.

The following year Dettori was again in the winners’ enclosure in which Marienbard was victories in 2002 Arc. Dettori then had a long period of time without success until 2015 in which the Gosden trained Golden Horn pulled clear in the straight under an amazing ride. The record was then broken as the star filly Enable won the 2017 running of the Arc with a devastating turn of foot to cement herself as the star filly of her generation. This infographic will cover the stats and facts on Europe’s key race and why it is the best.
